Thalia Hispanic Theatre is Queens’ Original Home for Latino Culture. Their mission is to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of Spanish and Latin American culture with unique productions of plays, musicals and dance. They are the first and only BILINGUAL Hispanic theatre in Queens, serving one of the most diverse communities in the United States, including more than one million Hispanics from every Spanish-speaking nation in the world. Every month is Hispanic Heritage Month at Thalia Spanish Theatre.
In 38 years they have produced more than 200 productions of the best Hispanic plays, musicals, zarzuelas (Spanish operettas) and folkloric music and dance shows, which have received 172 Awards for Artistic Excellence and earned national and international recognition as a leader in New York City’s celebrated Spanish theatre movement. They’ve grown from a community-based theatre to a world class cultural institution, collaborating with guest artists from Spain, Uruguay, India, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Colombia, and more. Thalia Spanish Theatre is a member of the Coalition of Theatres of Color (CTC), and the Alianza de Teatros Latinos NY.
